Upton Boys Eye Repeat State Championship
The boy's basketball program has been on the uptick for years it seems with just 6 losses over the course of the last 3 seasons. The Bobcats won the 1A state title going 22-1 and in that championship game against Saratoga, Luca Brooks went off for 30 points along with 10 rebounds. The bad news for the rest of the 1A contingent is that the two-time all-stater is back and Brooks is one of the most dynamic players in the state.
He gets some help from his teammates so it's not a one-man team by any means. Reece Barritt is a returning all-conference player and the team as a whole opened some eyes at the Shoshoni tournament over the weekend.
In a rematch of that 1A title game, the Bobcats, who are ranked #1 in our WyoPreps poll knocked off #2 Saratoga 66-54 and also beat Rocky Mountain 63-47 and the Grizzlies are the defending 2A state champions. Sandwiched in between that was a 41 point win over Cokeville.
Upton is the team to beat but there's a long way to go until March. We talked with Luca Brooks and Reece Barritt after their victory over Rocky Mountain. The sky is the limit for these guys.
