Wyoming American Legion Baseball ‘A’ State Tournament Bracket

The Wyoming American Legion Baseball Class ‘A’ State Tournament is in Douglas for 2019 and runs July 30 through August 3 at Nida Field.

It’s an eight-team, double-elimination bracket, and a new state champion will be crowned after the Defending Class ‘A’ State Champion Cody Cubs accepted an invitation to play at the ‘AA’ state tournament.

The winner of the Wyoming American Legion Baseball Class ‘A’ State Tournament will join the Cody Cubs in the field of the Single-A Northwest Regional Tournament in Cody, WY on August 9-13, 2019.

Here’s a look at the match-ups for the ‘A’ State Tournament.

Tuesday, July 30:

Game 1: (E2) Cheyenne Hawks 15 (W3) Powell Pioneers 2

Game 3: (W1) Riverton Raiders 1 (E4) Torrington Tigers 0 - Dillon Lange throws a 3-hit shutout with 10 K's

Game 2: (E3) Gillette Rustlers 2 (W2) Green River Knights 1 (9 innings) - Neither team scored until the 8th inning. Rustlers get an RBI-double from Dalton Martin.

Game 4: (E1) Douglas Cats 6 (W4) Wheatland Lobos 2

Wednesday, July 31:

Game 5: Torrington Tigers 8 Powell Pioneers 6 - Powell eliminated

Game 6: Wheatland Lobos 10 Green River Knights 7 - Green River eliminated - Lobos scored 3 in the 5th and 3 in the 6th to take the lead. Mytch Pollock of Wheatland with 4 hits and 2 RBI's; Ramsey Taliaferro hit a solo HR for the Knights in the 4th inning

Game 7: Cheyenne Hawks 8 Riverton Raiders 6 - Hawks jumped to a 5-2 lead and held off the Raiders come back attempt. Keagan Bartlett & Fisher Brown had 2 hits apiece; Riverton with six errors

Game 8: Douglas Cats 9 Gillette Rustlers 1 - Cats steadily pull away; Jordan Bobrowski with 3 hits and 4 RBI's for Douglas; Carson Selk a complete game on the mound

Thursday, August 1:

Game 9: Riverton Raiders 12 Wheatland Lobos 7 - Wheatland is eliminated.  - The teams combined for 28 hits, including 9 extra-base hits. Five of those were home runs (Riv - 3; Wheat - 2)

Game 10: Torrington Tigers 4 Gillette Rustlers 1 - Gillette eliminated. - Rustlers out-hit Tigers 8-to-6, but Torrington with key hits. Sam Firminhac with 2 hits and an RBI. Gillette had 4 errors.

Game 11: Cheyenne Hawks 6 Douglas Cats 1 - Hawks scored 5 runs in the last two innings to pull away for the victory.

Friday, August 2: Pairings for these two games will not match previous opponents against each other.

Game 12: Douglas Cats 10 Riverton Raiders 8 - Riverton eliminated - Douglas led 8-2 and held off a Raiders rally. Ollie with 3 hits and 3 RBI's for Cats

Game 13: Cheyenne Hawks 9 Torrington Tigers 5 - Torrington eliminated - A 5-run 2nd inning propelled the Hawks past the Tigers. Hastings had 2 hits and 3 RBI's for Cheyenne.

Saturday, August 3:

Game 14: State Championship Game: Cheyenne Hawks 5 Douglas Cats 4 - Hawks win their 2nd ever Class 'A' State Championship (2016). Ty Lobmeyer pitches a complete game and got the win. Tyler Schlagel hit a 3-run home run that tied it. Ben Bohlmann had the go-ahead two-run single.
