PhotoFest! State 1A Basketball Tournament Day #1

The quarterfinal round of the State 1A Basketball Tournament in Casper is in the books, and on the girls' side, there was just one game in which the lower-seeded team defeated the higher-seeded team. Riverside knocked off Upton 55-39 thanks to 23 points from Brooklyn Paxton. Bella Keller led Upton with 22.

In the 2nd game of the day at the Ford Center, Cokeville crushed Lusk 65-26 with Addison Barnes pouring in 27 for the Panthers. Lusk got 8 points from Emily ZumBrunnen. Burlington advanced to the semi-final round with a 61-46 victory over Lingle-Fort Laramie. The Huskies were led in scoring by Paxton Philpott with 20 and LFL got 16 points from Skyla Wunder. The last girl's game of the day saw defending 1A State Champion Southeast down Farson-Eden 33-22. The Cyclones received 11 points from Brylie Booth and the Pronghorns got 7 points from Sophia Goicolea.

On Friday at Casper College, Riverside and Cokeville will play in one semi-final at 4 pm while Burlington takes on Southeast at 5:30 in the other semi-final.

Over on the boys' side, all of the higher-seeded teams moved on to the semis starting with Little Snake River beating Southeast 60-51 as Tymber Cozzens led the Rattlers with 25 and the Cyclones got 15 points from Beaux Shimic. Lingle-Fort Laramie remained undefeated this season with a 55-36 decision over Encampment. LFL was paced by Ned Nelson with 15 and Gunner Henrie led Encampment with 8.

Also in the quarterfinal round on Thursday night. defending 1A State Champion Upton cruised by Burlington 69-32 as the Bobcats had 4 guys in double figures, led by Jackson Evans with 17. Burlington got 9 from Weston Gotfredson. The last game of the evening saw Lusk rally to defeat Cokeville 53-39. The Tigers received 19 points from Ridge Kupke and the Panthers were paced by Justin Moyes with 13.
