
PhotoFest! State 2A Basketball Day #2
The State 2A Basketball Tournament rolled along in Casper on Friday and in the boys' semi-final round at the Ford Center, Pine Bluffs punched their ticket to the championship game with a 43-29 win over Sundance. The Hornets were led by Justin Lerwick with 17 and their last State Title was in 2023. Sundance got 9 points from Kade Mills. In the other semi-final, defending champion Wyoming Indian lost to Thermopolis 60-47. The Bobcats are looking for their 1st state title since 2004 and were paced by Cody Bomengen with 20. Wyoming Indian received 13 points from Parlayne Ferris. So Thermop and Pine Bluffs will play for the 2A Championship on Saturday at 7 pm at the Ford Center.
In the 2A Boys consolation round, Wright beat Big Horn 66-49 and Rocky Mountain defeated Big Piney 43-37. In the 2A Girls semi-finals, Tongue River took a big step towards repeating as State Champions with a convincing 62-49 win over Thermopolis. The Eagles got 17 points from Emma Sopko and the Bobcats got a great game from Jayssie Owsley with 22. Wyoming Indian made it to the championship game with a 48-43 win over Rocky Mountain. The Lady Chiefs were led by Paisley Blackburn with 14 and the Grizzlies received a dozen points from Shelby Wambeke. Wyoming Indian is looking for a State Title for the 1st time since 2021. The 2A Girls Championship will be Saturday at 5:30 at the Ford Center.
In the girls' consolation round, Pine Bluffs ran by Wright 68-31 and Big Horn defeated Big Piney. We have a large batch of photos from the semi-final round of the 2A State Tournament and the consolation round. They can be located in our gallery below. Enjoy!
