The Campbell County boys basketball team endured a brutal 2023-24 season in which they went 5-18. Fast forward to the 2024-25 season and the Camels emerged as the 4A State Champions with a 62-55 win over Laramie on Saturday in Casper. Campbell County went 17-8 this season and won this title with a bunch of made free throws in the last minute of the contest.

Campbell County outscored Laramie 15-9 in the 4th quarter in a back and forth game start to finish. Truman DeGrange was 7-16 from the field in this game for the Camels and finished with 21 points. Lane Hladkey added 15 and Jack Andela contributed 14. Campbell County connected on nine 3-pointers in the game and seven of those were in the first half.

Laramie has enjoyed a great run in the last few years, but it has to be frustrating to finish 2nd at the 4A State Tournament three years in a row. Senior Neil Summers, playing on a bad ankle, led the Plainsmen with 25 points and 11 rebounds. He was also 3-3 from the land of 3 and Jaden Smith was in double figures with 15. Laramie ended the season with a record of 19-9.
