PhotoFest! Cody Basketball Squads Sweep Lander

It was an action-packed weekend on the hardwood state-wide over the weekend and in 3A West Conference play, Cody had their home opener against Lander on Saturday with the home teams winning in boys' and girls' competition.

In the girls' game. Cody played a terrific first half and led Lander at the intermission 42-10. The Broncs won the game going away 58-25 and this team is getting an MVP-type season from Grace Hays who has been averaging 19 points, 9 rebounds, 6 steals, and 3 assists per game. You can't ask for much more than that. Ellie Talich is a double-digit scorer throwing in a dozen per game. Cody started last week's play with a 50-37 win over Powell so they're 10-3 on the year.

Lander started the week's action with a 39-34 overtime win over Lyman and the Tigers have been led in scoring this season by Daisy Gokish who is averaging 14 points a game with Hayden Googles chipping in 9 per game. Lander at this juncture is 8-6.

The Cody boys knocked off Lander on Saturday 50-36 and this was an 18-12 game in favor of the Broncs at halftime. It was a successful week for Cody on the hardwood starting with a 69-55 victory over Powell in a match-up between the #2 and #3 ranked teams in our WyoPreps 3A poll. The Broncs have three guys who are averaging in double-figures; Grady McCarten and Maddux Ball are both tossing in 14 a game and Jaxon Hazel averaging 12 per contest. Cody sports a record right now of 9-4.

Lander is 8-6 on the season after a split last week, starting out with a 48-29 victory over Lyman. The Tigers have a whopping four players averaging in double-figures, led by Peyton Bell, with 15, while Finn McFadden, Noah St. Clair, and Keiton Iron Eyes all average 10 per game.
