There was a Battle of the Titans in 3A Boys basketball on Friday as #1 Lovell traveled to Cody to meet the 2nd-ranked Broncs. Lovell won the first meeting between these two teams 38-33 but Cody turned the tables in a balanced effort en route to a 60-48 win. Cody slowly but surely gave themselves some space on the scoreboard, with an 11-point lead in the 3rd quarter after trailing by 6 in the 2nd quarter.

Jaxon Hazel led the way for Cody with 22 points, thanks to a sensational 4th quarter. Grady McCarten has been on fire this season and he tossed in 17 on Friday and that is his season average. Maddax Ball had 13 for the Broncs as they improved to 13-4 overall and 6-1 in the 3A West Conference. Lovell got 11 points from Owen Walker and he has been averaging 14 points per game, and Matthew Newman has been a double-digit contributor with 13 a game. The Bulldogs finished the weekend with a 68-35 victory over Worland so they're 17-2 overall and 6-1 in league play.

The Cody girl's team was ranked #3 in our WyoPreps poll and they handled Lovell on Friday 64-12. Cody put the game away in the 1st quarter as they assumed a 29-3 lead and coasted in from there. It was 41-5 at halftime with a lot of fast-break baskets. Grace Hays has paced the Broncs this season, averaging 19 points a game, which is 4th in 3A. Ellie Talich has been averaging 12 a game. Cody is 14-3 overall so far this year and 7-0 in 3A West action.

Lovell found some traction on Saturday with a 47-23 win over Worland so the Lady Bulldogs are 10-9 overall and 2-5 in league play. This team has balanced scoring with 4 players averaging between 6.9 and 7.9 points per game. We have some terrific photos to share from Dave Treick from this doubleheader in Cody.
