
PhotoFest! WY. Indian Basketball Teams Complete Unbeaten Weekend
The Wyoming Indian basketball teams are putting themselves in a favorable position for the Regional Basketball Tournaments next month with a pair of home wins over the weekend. The Lady Chiefs beat Big Piney on Friday 62-45 as Paisley Blackburn had 19 points and Taya Dixey had 18. Both of those players have been averaging 13 points a game. Big Piney got 19 points from Bryli Bailey and 13 points from Kodee Green. The Punchers are 5-10 on the season.
On Saturday, the Wyoming Indian girls prevailed over Kemmerer 36-30 with Paisley Blackburn leading the way with 13. It was a grind-it-out game and with the victory, the Lady Chiefs improved to 12-4 on the year. Kemmerer is 4-11 on the season and they have been paced by Janae Skidmore who has been throwing in 16 points a game which ranks 2nd in 2A.
For the boys on Friday, Wyoming Indian defeated Big Piney 70-59 and assumed a 20-point lead at halftime. The Chiefs were led by Darian Augustine with 20 with Heeyeiniitou Monroe Black contributing 13. Big Piney got 12 points from William Hibbert and he has been averaging 13 points a game. The Punchers are currently 9-7 on the year.
On Saturday, Wyoming Indian steamrolled Kemmerer 83-22 as Monroe-Black had a sensational game with 33 points and had been averaging 17 points a game this season. the Chiefs upped their record to 12-4. The Rangers are 5-10 on the year and have been led in scoring this season by Gabe Wiswell, throwing in 10 points per contest.
