The Star Valley basketball teams made the long trip to Casper over the weekend with the Braves taking on Kelly Walsh on Friday in boys' and girls' play. The ladies were up first in the doubleheader and Star Valley held on to beat KW 43-38. It was a back-and-forth game with the Trojans missing a potential game-tying shot in the last 5 seconds.

Star Valley was led in scoring by Emily Dana with 15 and she has been averaging 11 per game so far this season. Ruby Hill chipped in 11 as the Braves beat Natrona on Saturday 41-28 to get to 8-9 overall, 3-0 in the 4A SW Conference. Kelly Walsh got 18 points from Kennedy Davila and 10 from Rayma Green and split their weekend games with a resounding 53-15 victory over Jackson on Saturday. The Lady Trojans are 7-11 overall and 3-0 in the 4A NW Conference.

The boy's game between Star Valley was super competitive from start to finish with neither team enjoying a comfortable lead at any juncture. KW had a chance to win in the final seconds but a 3-pointer fell short to give Star Valley the win 52-51. The Braves were led by Cooper Lancaster with 21 and Dylan Shumway threw in 13. Both of those guys have been averaging in double figures this season. Star Valley lost to Natrona at the buzzer on Saturday 64-62 so the Braves are 9-8 overall but 3-0 in the 4A Southwest Conference.

Kelly Walsh got 11 points from Mason Eager and 9 from Carter Alvar on Friday night but did end the weekend on a high note with a huge 71-32 victory over Jackson on Saturday. The Trojans are 8-9 overall and 1-2 in the 4A Northwest Conference. We have a group of images to share with you from this KW-SV twin-bill on Friday night and you can locate them in our gallery below.
