Although some of last week's big matchups didn't take place due to the weather, the ones that did lived up to their billing, and coaches/media took note on what happened.

Kelly Walsh remains on top of the 4A rankings. The Trojans had 2 home games snowed out during the weekend, but shook off the rust and won at #5 Cheyenne East earlier this week. Cheyenne Central is up one spot to #2 and has been doing well vs. out of state teams. Cheyenne South started their season this past weekend and is off to a good start, winning all 3. The Bison will play during the holiday break in Nebraska. Just wait until the first weekend in January, because that is when things will get interesting, as KW plays South and Central back-to-back on the road. Gillette will be #4 heading into their Energy Classic Tournament next week. The Camels like most of the high ranked 4A teams, have been keeping busy vs. teams from other states.

There is no doubt to the voters which 3A teams should be ranked #1 and #2, because it's unanimous for both. Riverton and Douglas needed overtime last weekend vs. each other, and the Wolverines pulled it out in the end, to stay undefeated. The Wolverines will test their luck in January, when they visit 4A Cheyenne South, 4A Cheyenne East and 4A Laramie. Meanwhile, Torrington has entered the rankings at #3, while Cody drops to #4 and Lander is in at #5. The Tigers might feel that they should be higher, considering they have a win vs. the TrailBlazers.

For the 2A teams, everyone is still looking up at Pine Bluffs. The Hornets are once again the unanimous #1. It was a shame that the big game between Big Horn and Wind River got snowed out, so the voters were split as to which team is #2. BH and PB will clash in Yoder after the winter break. Rocky Mountain is in the rankings at #4, while Lovell holds steady at #5. WR just beat RM in Shoshoni this past weekend, and the teams will meet up again in Worland before the holidays.

There was not much change in the latest 1A rankings. Kaycee remains the #1 teams, but undefeated Lingle-Ft. Laramie is gaining ground and is up to #2. The Buckaroos will try their hand vs. 2A teams in Yoder in early January. Cokeville is now #3, while Burlington has dropped a couple of spots to #4. Encampment is in at #5.

Disclaimer: The rankings have no official say on post-season positioning, and are only to be used as a measuring stick on the regular season. Please don't read too much into the rankings.

The next rankings won't come out until January 11th, 2017, because not many teams are playing during the holiday break.
