Wyoming High School Cross Country Scoreboard: Sept. 2-3, 2022
The rust has been busted off the 2022 high school cross country season around Wyoming.
Most teams are getting into the thick of their training.
Buffalo and Cheyenne host the big in-state events.
This is the Week 2 schedule for cross country. All schedules are subject to change.
Friday, Sept. 2:
Buffalo HS XC Invitational – Big Horn, Buffalo, Cody, Douglas, Glenrock, Lander, Lovell, Moorcroft, Powell, Riverton, Rocky Mountain, Thermopolis, Worland, Wright, Wyoming Indian
Taylen Stinson from Cody won the girls' race and helped Cody to the team title.
Kaden Chatfield of Riverton won his second race of the season. The Worland boys won the team title.
Gering Invite in Gering, NE – Burns/Pine Bluffs, Torrington, Wheatland
Aydan Loya from Torrington won the boys' race. The Blazer took second. Pine Bluffs was third in the girls' division.
Spearfish HS XC Invite in Spearfish, SD – Campbell County, Hulett, Newcastle, Sheridan, Sundance, Thunder Basin, Tongue River
Sheridan won the boys' division and was 2nd in the girls. Sheridan's Austin Akers won the race by 34 seconds.
Saturday, Sept. 3:
Wyoming Invitational at Little America G.C. in Cheyenne – Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, Cheyenne South, Kelly Walsh, Laramie, Natrona County, Rawlins, Saratoga/Encampment; Out-of-State teams: Boulder (CO), Brush (CO), Dakota Ridge (CO), Erie (CO), Estes Park (CO), Fort Collins (CO), Frontier Academy (CO), Liberty Common (CO), Lyons (CO), Niwot (CO), Platte Valley (CO), Poudre (CO), Resurrection Christian (CO), Riverdale Ridge (CO), Stargate (CO), Timnath (CO), Windsor (CO).
Laramie won the boys' team title with Central second. Bridger Brokaw of Central took second and Tristan Enders of NC was third.
Central took second and NC was third in the girls' division. Sydney Morrell was the top WY finisher in fourth.
2022 Cardinal Classic at Kelly Park Trails in Soda Springs, ID – Evanston, Green River, Jackson, Lyman, Mountain View, Rock Springs, Star Valley
Owen Burnett from Mountain View (Kemmerer) won the boys' 5K race at 16:52.16. Habtamu Wetzel of Star Valley finished third. Colby Jenks from Jackson was fourth. Madison Antonino of Jackson took fourth and was the top WY girl in the race.
