Four of the 5 #1 ranked teams are unanimous according to the coaches and media, while the other is new to the top spot this season.

Last week's battle between the top 2 teams in 4A lived up to the hype. Sheridan needed only 1 extra play to prove they are the top team for the time being. Natrona hangs on to the #2 ranking, by 1 vote ahead of #3 Cheyenne East. The Thunderbirds are undefeated, but it's the Mustangs strength of schedule so far that won out. East will get their chances, and they have to play both NC and Sheridan on the road. Until then, they got unfinished business with Cheyenne South, because the Bison finally won last year. Kelly Walsh moves up 1 spot #4, and should be in for a good game at home vs. unranked Rock Springs. Thunder Basin drops to #5 after losing their first game of the season last week. The Bolts host the Broncs this weekend.

It's very clear, according to the voters, which are the top 2 teams in 3A, but let's not look ahead to week 8 clash just yet. There are plenty of games to be played between now and then. Star Valley is still the unanimous #1, and Green River is the near unanimous #2. The top 2 in the west, are followed by the top 3 in the East. Douglas and Buffalo move up 1 spot each to #3 and #4 respectively, while Torrington drops to #5. The TrailBlazers will renew their rivalry with 2A Newcastle...a team they haven't played in 9 years.

There's only 1 undefeated team left in 2A, so it should be easy to figure out which one is the unanimous #1. Glenrock is king of the mountain. The Herders will play their second straight game vs. a 3A opponent this week, when they visit Riverton. #2 Greybull is still ranked #2, and has picked up experience in close games...something that will be crucial later in the season. #3 Mountain View has a score to settle with unranked Lovell this weekend. The Bulldogs were the only team to beat the Buffalos in conference play last year. Newcastle is down to #4, and will have a battle on their hands with 3A Torrington visiting. Despite losing last week, Big Piney is in at #5. The voters were more impressed with the Punchers efforts vs. Mountain View last week, compared to former #5 Pinedale's vs. 1A Cokeville, hence BP edges out the Wranglers by 1 vote. BP has another tough game on their hands this week, visiting #2 Greybull.

It was a close vote, but in the end, offense edged out defense for a new #1 in 1A. Big Horn claims the spot by 1 vote over #2 Cokeville. The Rams average 583 yards of total offense a game so far, while the Panthers have yet to give up a point in the regular season (the Kemmerer game was an exhibition). BH has the big game this week, because it's champ vs. champ. The 2A champs host 1A champ and current #3 Pine Bluffs. The biggest question in this game is going to be the weather...there's a 60% chance of showers in the forecast. The Rams and Hornets have only played one other time, that being in the 2003 semi-finals (BH won). All of the big games in 1A are in the East this week. #4 Upton-Sundance hosts #5 Lusk. The Tigers are ranked for the first time in awhile, and has to run the gauntlet with U-S, BH and PB, back-to-back-to-back.

The new 6-man rankings are unchanged from last week. Kaycee's winning streak will stay in tact for at least one more week. The unanimous #1 Buckaroos get an off week, because Rock River has ended their season. #2 Farson-Eden held off a big comeback from #4 Burlington, and should be able to fine tune a few things vs. St. Stephens this week, while the Huskies host Ten Sleep. The big game this week is #3 Little Snake River at #5 Meeteetse.
