The 2022-23 high school Nordic Skiing season begins this weekend in Laramie.

The Laramie Invite is at the Happy Jack Trails at Tie City east of the Gem City.

Friday’s skiing is a relaxed 3x3 km freestyle relay race at 1 p.m. No team scores will be kept. The varsity girls will ski first, then the varsity boys.

Saturday’s race is a 5 km freestyle race starting at 10 a.m. The race order is reversed with the boys first followed by the girls.

The girls' race was won by Ameya Eddy of Lander, who crossed the finish line at 17:01.6. Laramie's Eliza Fay was second (17:29.8), and Emma Pearson from Kelly Walsh took third (17:38.3).

Otus Beason from Lander won the boys' race at a time of 14:43.8. Luke Schmidt of Kelly was placed second (14:44.7), and Luke Pearson from KW came in third (14:47.8).

Here were the results of the fun Friday, 3x3km relay race. No points were awarded or scores kept.

The schools competing this weekend are Casper Kelly Walsh, Casper Natrona County, Cody, Jackson, Lander, the host Laramie, Pinedale, and Sheridan.

It’s the first time the Nordic season has started on time since 2019.
