Wyoming High School Skiing Scoreboard: Feb. 3-4, 2023
Cross-country skiers will be competing on the seventh weekend of the 2023 high school season.
After getting called off last week, it’s back to the trails on Casper Mountain.
Downhill skiers do not have any competition this week.
Nordic skiers are hoping to return to competition after last weekend was postponed.
It’s the same schedule as last week, just delayed by seven days due to the weather and road conditions.
Natrona County High School hosts its Jacobson Memorial Nordic Ski meet at the Casper Mountain Trails Center.
Friday is a 7.5km classic race starting at 1 p.m. The varsity girls will ski first, and then the varsity boys. This race has interval starts, so one skier will take to the course every 15 seconds.
Ally Wheeler of Natrona County won the girls' division at 28:58.3. Elisa Wachob of Cody and Emily Anderson of Lander came in 2nd and 3rd.
Kelly Walsh's Fisk Johansson won the men's varsity division at 25:41.5. Lander's Diego Lobatos and Bennett Hutchison took 2nd and 3rd.
Saturday has a 7.5km freestyle race at 10 a.m. This will feature a mass start. Each team will be assigned a lane to start in. Coaches will determine the order of their own team’s skiers. The varsity boys will be first, followed by the varsity girls at 10:45 a.m.
NC's Ally Wheeler made it a weekend sweep on her home trails. She won the freestyle race at 24.58.8. Eliza Fay from Laramie was 2nd, and Elisa Wachob of Cody came in 3rd.

The Cody Invite at the Red Lodge Mountain Ski Area in Montana was cut short last week. The GS race last Saturday was canceled due to too much snow.
According to Cody’s head coach Rick Stonehouse, they are looking at possibly adding the missed day of racing to the Casper weekend on Feb. 10 and 11, 2023. Once that decision has been made, we will update our story.
