Teams are in mid-season form, but if you look at the new coaches/media rankings, some of this week's matchups might have a post-season feel to them.

This is a big week of games in 4A Boys, especially since teams have shuffled around in every spot, except for #1. Thunder Basin is still the unanimous top, but this weekend could be their toughest test, as they battle #2 Cheyenne Central and Cheyenne East (ranked #5 with Natrona), back-to-back on the road, right after the Indians and Thunderbirds play each other. Rock Springs dropped 1 spot to #3, after their home loss to now #4 Kelly Walsh last week.

There's no change in the new 3A Boys rankings, but games lurk. It's still Worland, Star Valley, Buffalo, Torrington and Lander in that order. It's the #5 Tigers that have the big games this weekend, as they play the Bison and the TrailBlazers, back-to-back at home.

Thunder and lightning hit the 4A girls rankings...but not until after the votes had already been collected and counted, so the effects won't be felt until next week. Right after the voting deadline passed, the final whistle blew and #2 Thunder Basin celebrated a 1-0 OT victory at home vs. #1 Cheyenne Central. Things should change next week, so the Lady Bolts will have to wait until then. Both teams visit unranked Cheyenne East later this week. As for the rest of the rankings...Rock Springs maintains their #3 spot, while Campbell County moves up to #4, and Kelly Walsh is back in at #5, pushing Laramie out. The Lady Plainsmen hope to get back into the top 5, provided they can win on the road vs. the Lady Camels this weekend.

Like the 3A Boys rankings, there is no change in the new 3A Girls rankings as well. Defending champ Cody is the unanimous #1 team, and they have a big game on Thursday at home vs. #3 Worland. This will be the third time, the 2 teams have faced each other this season. Meanwhile Douglas, Star Valley and Buffalo hold steady at #2, #4 and #5 respectively. The Lady Bearcats and Lady Bison will hook up in quadrant business early next week. If any team has an advantage at this point in the season, it's SV. The Lady Braves have 6 games to play on their schedule, before the state tournament, and all of them are at home.
