WyoPreps Preseason Basketball Tour: Star Valley Girls [VIDEO]
The Star Valley Lady Braves enter a new season looking to change the way they play by creating more scoring opportunities.
The Lady Braves went 16-11 last season and reached the 4A state basketball tournament. They finished second in the 4A Southwest Quadrant at 4-2 and third at the 4A West Regional basketball tourney.
They return an all-conference performer in senior Kenlee Englehardt, who averaged 8.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, and team-highs of 2.3 assists and 3.6 steals per game. Six other players who saw time at the varsity level also return.
WyoPreps caught up with seniors Delancy Brog and Kenlee Englehardt, as well as, head coach Kade Erickson on stop No. 2 of our WyoPreps Preseason Basketball Tour. We spoke about how practice is going so far, the areas they are focusing on, how they would describe this year’s Lady Braves squad, what to watch for in 4A girls’ basketball, and more. We had a few more light-hearted questions for the players.
Last season was Star Valley’s third state tournament appearance in four seasons under Coach Erickson. It was also the most wins in the Erickson tenure. Still, the Lady Braves would love to climb the ladder further up the 4A ranks.
Star Valley opens its 2023-24 season at the Strannigan Classic in Riverton over the first weekend of the season. They will play Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, Lander, and Sheridan.
