WyoPreps Spotlight: Cody Senior Tara Joyce [VIDEO]
Cody’s Tara Joyce certainly left her mark on the girls’ swimming in Wyoming.
In three years, she won six individual state championships. Joyce was selected the 3A Athlete of the Year three times and the 3A Athlete of the Meet twice in her prep career.
She concluded the 2022 season with six Class 3A state records. Joyce has the top mark in all four freestyle events, plus the butterfly and backstroke. Her time in the 200-freestyle of 1:49.95 is an all-class record.
Joyce won the 200 and 500 freestyle races at the 2022 Class 3A Girls State Swim Meet in Laramie earlier this month. WyoPreps’ David Settle caught up with Tara to discuss those two races, sweeping the Athlete of the Meet and Athlete of the Year awards again, and looking back over her career at CHS.
Joyce has signed to swim for coach Dave Denniston and the Wyoming Cowgirls starting in the fall of 2023.
