For the fourth straight year, the Cody Broncs and Fillies were the team champions at the 2026 Wyoming High School Indoor Track State Championships last weekend in Gillette. Both squads won three events and utilized their depth to prevail in the team standings. This was the fourth title in school history for the Broncs and fifth for the Fillies. The track meet featured two overall state records and six class records in the 3A championships.

The Fillies won two relays and one individual event. Cody set a new 3A record in the 4x800-meter relay at 10:00.71. They also won the 4x400 relay (4:13.58), and senior Isabelle Paddock took first in the pole vault (10-9).

Cody scored 106 points and held off Torrington, who finished second with 105.5 team points. Powell placed third with 77.5 points, and Worland was fourth with 70.

Torrington won six events. The Blazers set a new 3A class record in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:46.46. Senior Brooklyn Asmus won the sprints. She crossed the line at 7.28 seconds in the 55-meter dash and 25.56 seconds in the 200 meters. Natalie Hawes won the 55-meter hurdles (8.72) and long jump (16-7). Trishell Pontarolo defended her title in the triple jump (36-1.50).

The star of the girls’ 3A meet was Lander senior Adelyn Anderson. She smashed the state record in the shot put. Anderson’s best toss was 48-11.25. That was nearly two feet better than the old overall state mark (47-0.50).

Lyla Marney from Big Horn swept the distance races. She won the 1600 meters (5:28.12) and 3200 meters (11:34.01).

Worland’s Cherise Douzenis was the 400-meter champion (58.28). Ellie Fritz from Tongue River won the 800 meters (2:21.67). Worland won the Sprint Medley Relay (4:20.11), and Skyleigh Smith of Douglas finished first in the high jump (5-0).

Cody Had 17 Top-Eight Finishes

The Broncs also won three events. Boston Cronebaugh was the champ in the 200 meters. His winning time was 22.79 seconds. Anders Nelson won the pole vault at 12-7. Cody’s Sprint Medley Relay took first with a time of 3:40.83.

Cody scored 109 team points and won by 16 points. Douglas placed second at 93 points. Big Horn took third at 70 team points, and Mountain View was fourth with 68.

Another star of the meet was junior Cole Rogers from Mountain View. He won the 55-meter hurdles (7.46). Rogers broke the overall state and 3A class record with a time of 7.37 seconds in the prelims of that event. Also, in the prelims of the 200 meters, Rogers set a 3A class record of 22.25 seconds. Unfortunately, he suffered an injury in a race during the finals and was not able to finish the competition.

The Mountain View boys set a 3A class record in the 4x200-meter relay. Their winning time was 1:33.79. The Buffalos also captured the 4x800 relay (8:53.33).

Payson Hollingsworth from Douglas won two events. He was first in the high jump (6-0) and long jump (22-01). Teammate Bodey Kejr swept the 800 (2:00.81) and 1600 meters (4:42.10).

Big Horn’s Rio Hernandez won the 400 meters (51.17). The Rams also were first in the 4x400-meter relay (3:34.50). Worland had two winners. Cole Keller placed first in the triple jump (40-11), and Cade Bell was on top of the podium in the shot put (51-4.25).

Zane Howes from Burns/Pine Bluffs was the champion in the 55-meter dash at 6.66 seconds. Noah Blasi from Rawlins won the 3200 meters (10:13.04).
