
Wyoming Indoor Track Athletes Chase 2026 State Titles in Gillette
The 2026 Wyoming High School Indoor Track State Championships are Thursday through Saturday in Gillette at the Campbell County Recreation Center Fieldhouse. It is the 16th consecutive year that this venue hosts the state indoor track meet. Thirty teams are competing in two classifications at this year’s state championships. The top eight in each event of each classification will receive medals. The top four boys’ and girls’ teams in each class will receive trophies.

Twelve state records were set at last year’s championships. Lainey Berryhill from Laramie set a new time in the 400 meters. Cheyenne Central set a new 4x800-meter relay record for the girls. The other ten records were on the boys’ side. New state record times were set by Carter McComb of Sheridan in the 55 and 200 meters, Flynn Arnold from Laramie in the 400 meters, and Star Valley’s Jase Burton in the 1600 and 3200 meters. In relays, Thunder Basin set the standard in the 4x200-meter relay. Sheridan set two times in the 4x400 and 4x800-meter relays. Kavin Hoff from Natrona County set the new height in the pole vault, and Landon Walker established a new distance in the triple jump.
There were 13 Class 4A records. The same 12 records set at the state level, plus Laramie’s boys set a class mark in the 1600 Sprint Medley Relay. Class 3A had 13 class records set last year. Six came in the girls’ division and seven in the boys.’
In 2026, nine finalists will advance in the Triple Jump, Long Jump, and Shot Put. Eight finalists advance in the 55-meter dash, 55-meter hurdles, and 200 meters. Two heats of four will be run in the 200 meters, with the fastest times in the final heat.

The 2026 Wyoming High School Outdoor Track and Field season will begin with its first practice on Monday, March 9. The first competition day is Thursday, March 19.
