A No. 1 versus No. 2 showdown in Class 3A volleyball is on Friday, as the Mountain View Buffalos host the Lyman Eagles.

These two programs have combined for three losses all season.

Mountain View lost their first match of the year to Class 4A No. 4 Evanston in five sets. They’ve won 20 consecutive matches entering Friday. They are 20-1 on the season.

WyoPreps’ David Settle talked with seniors Kamri Hutchings and Kaycee Bugas about the start to the season, what’s gone right, what there is to work on, and some fun items, as well.

Lyman has rattled off 22 victories in their first 24 matches. Their only two losses are to Mountain View. Both came at neutral sites during tournament play. The first was in the semifinals of the Cokeville Invitational tournament. The Buffalos won that match, 3-0. The second happened two weeks later in the semifinals of the Rawlins Invitational tournament, 2-1. They enter this match on a five-match win streak.

WyoPreps’ David Settle visited with senior Kendyll Dickerson and Charlsie Rose about how the Eagles are playing early on, areas to improve, teams they’re looking out for, and some fun road trip items.

In both videos, both sets of seniors mentioned the rivalry with each other and wanting to win those matches.

Lyman plays a non-conference match at Rich, UT, on Thursday before facing their Bridger Valley rivals.

Top-ranked Mountain View versus second-rated Lyman is on Friday, Oct. 1 at 6 p.m.
