The 106-pound championship matches at the 2021 State Wrestling Tournament were filled with underclassmen. in 4A, two freshmen met on the mat for all the marble with Broc Fletcher of Rock Springs defeating Kaden Orr of Natrona by a pin in the 2nd period. Fletcher capped an outstanding season at 20-2 with the victory and Orr was solid this year too at 31-5. The wrestling was very competitive in 4A at this weight class with sophomore Walker Wilson of Evanston taking 3rd place with a pin over freshman Cole Riesen of Sheridan in the 3rd period. Wilson was 23-13 this year and Riesen ended up 28-7. Sheridan's Cody Dunham, another freshman placed 5th with a victory over Liam Knerr of Laramie, who was yet another freshman.

In 3A, the state championship went to Green River's Kale Knezovich who posted a 6-4 win over Lyman's Kazen Siler. Knezovich was another freshman who wrapped up the season at 31-1 while Siler, the junior was 34-8. Star Valley's Bridger Smith went 26-4 as a sophomore and took 3rd in 3A at 106 with Powell's Nate Balderas placing 4th.

Over in 2A, Kemmerer's Karl Haslem pinned Josiah Stockwell of Saratoga to take the championship and finish the year 32-5. Here's a couple of underclassmen who excelled at 106 so that seemed to be the trend at this weight. Stockwell went 21-7 this season. The 3rd place finisher at 106 in 2A was Grant Logsdon of Lingle/Southeast who went 32-2 this season. He defeated Wyitt Knight of Wright by a fall in the 2nd period. Knight finished at 12-5. Gabe Matthews from Lusk took 5th with a pin over Wyatt Cook from Moorcroft.
