A year ago, Big Horn lost to Torrington 28-26 in the 2A Football Championship game in Laramie, and that defeat served as motivation for 2024. The Rams were focused from start to finish this season, going 11-0 after a 42-12 win over Friday in this season's 2A title game. Big Horn never trailed and has 5 state championships to its credit over the last 9 years.

The Rams opened the scoring as quarterback Avon Barney tossed a 26-yard touchdown pass to Daniel Walker so the Rams led 7-0 after one-quarter of play. Barney threw 2 more TD passes in the 2nd quarter, one going to Owen Petty that covered 15 yards, and another to sophomore Bridger Doke that went for 26. Barney and Doke connected again in the 3rd quarter for another 27-yard scoring completion so at this point, Big Horn led 28-0.

Cokeville found the end zone late in the 3rd quarter as Kayson Walker plunged in from the 1 to make it 28-6. In the 4th quarter, Cruz Hernandez and Barney turned in short TD runs to increase the lead to 42-6. Walker added a TD for the Panthers to conclude the scoring.

Barney had a fantastic day throwing the football for Big Horn, going 19-29 for 316 yards. Kashton Walker led Cokeville in rushing with 80 yards on the ground and threw for 74. The Panthers finished the season at 7-4 and made their first appearance in the State Championship game since 2019.
