The 2A West Regional track meet was in Shoshoni on Friday and Saturday with the top 8 individuals and the top 4 relays qualifying for this week's state meet in Casper. On the girl's side, Big Piney had a strong meet to finish 1st with Rocky Mountain 2nd and Riverside 3rd.  In the sprint events, Torry Taylor from Big Piney ran 13.89 to win the 100-meter dash while Vaidyn Vanderploeg from Riverside captured the 200 in 27.31. The 400 winner for the girls was Muriel Jones of Big Piney in 1.00.59. In the hurdle races, Breana Ruley of Riverside took the tape in 17.72 and she also won the 300 hurdles with a clocking of 51.78. In the relays, Greybull won the 4x100, Wind River the 4x400, and Wyoming Indian the 4x800 relay. The 1600 medley winner was Big Piney. In the distance races, Muriel Jones of Big Piney added to her total with a win in the 800 in 2.17.99, another win in 1600 in 5.37.01, and yes, a win in the 3200 12.15. 83. So a nice 40 point meet for that young lady.

In the girl's field events, Kaitey Christensen, a freshman from Rocky Mountain won the high jump at 4-10 and the long jump with a leap of 15-10.75. Riana Tidwell of Shoshoni took the triple jump going 30-1.50 and Taylin Boettcher of Rocky Mountain cleared 9 feet even in the pole vault. Cloe Ramsey of Shoshoni won the discus with a toss of 102-10 while the shot put winner was Hanna Hansen of Big Piney, going 31 feet even.

On the boy's side in the sprints, Branson Robison of Rocky Mountain owned those events with wins in the 100, 200, and 400-meter dashes. He ran 11.43 in the 100, 23.40 in the 200, and 51.50 in the 400. Zane Horrocks of Rocky Mountain took the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.48 and the 300 hurdles in 42.21. Rocky Mountain won the 4x100 and the 4x400 with Riverside taking the 4x800. Wind River won the 1600 medley. Over in the long races, Gavin McCollach of Greybull won 2 of the 3 with victories in the 1600 meters and the 3200. His time in the mile was 4.45.92 and he ran 10.59.19 in the two-mile. The 800-meter victor was Wind River's Colby Jenks in 2.04.20.

To the throwing events, Thomas Howard of Big Piney won the discus with a toss of 130-5 with his teammate Nathan Maxfield taking the shot with a throw of 43-3.50. In the rest of the field events, Trevor Jewell of Rocky Mountain won the high jump at 6-0 and the long jump at 19-8. The triple jump champion was Carsyn Weber of Rocky at 41-8 while his teammate Kelden Boettcher cleared 11 feet even to take the pole vault.

In the boy's team standings in the 2A West Regional, Rocky Mountain with 221 points to take 1st, Big Piney 2nd, and Riverside 3rd. We have some video to share with you on the proceedings in Shoshoni. Enjoy!
