The second day of the Class 3A boys basketball state championships in Casper has five games on the schedule.

WyoPreps is filing small recaps to provide fans some insight into the games played during the final day of the season. The action is at Casper College and the Ford Wyoming Center.

The 3A boys' championship will be featured in a separate story.

Game 12: Buffalo 62 Lander 52 (3rd place game)

Hunter Stone scored 16 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead Buffalo past Lander in the 3A boys' third-place game at the state tournament in Casper on Thursday.

The Bison defense held the Tigers to 31 percent shooting. Buffalo scored 22 points in the second quarter and built a 37-18 lead by halftime. Lander tried to rally but got no closer than the final margin.

After Stone, Buffalo got 15 points from Eli Patterson. They shot almost 54 percent from the field and overcame 18 turnovers. The Bison outrebounded the Tigers, 38-29. They also had 10 blocked shots and 11 steals.

Lander was paced by Jonas Calvert's 14 points. The Tigers went 9-32 from deep.

The Bison captured the third-place trophy in 3A boys basketball at the state tournament.

Game 10: Lyman vs. Douglas (Consolation championship)

Game 8: Lyman 48 Rawlins 40 (consolation)

Lyman made just enough plays and defensive stands down the stretch to hold off a Rawlins comeback, as the Eagles beat the Outlaws 48-40 in consolation play on Thursday at the 3A boys state tournament.

It was a close game through the first 16 minutes. After a couple of lead changes and a tie, it was 18-12 Lyman at the break. The Eagles built a 32-21 lead in the third quarter. Rawlins responded and cut it to 32-27 at the end of the third. They took a lead in the fourth quarter, but back Lyman. The Eagles pulled it out down the stretch.

Lyman's McCoy Smith scored 15 points, while Preston Brewer added 11. The Eagles scored 18 points off 17 Rawlins turnovers. Lyman shot 38 percent in the game.

The Outlaws were paced by Ashton Barto with 13 points. Mitchell Allard added 11. Rawlins shot just 32.5 percent from the floor.

Lyman will play for the consolation trophy at 5 p.m. on Thursday from Casper College against Douglas.

Game 9: Douglas 67 Wheatland 45 (consolation)

Douglas shot 62 percent in the second half and rolled away from Wheatland, 67-45, at Casper College on Thursday in consolation action from the 3A boys state tournament.

The game was tight throughout the first half. It was 16-16 at the end of the first, and the Bearcats held a 25-24 lead at the break. The first half had five lead changes, and the score was tied four times.

Douglas doubled-up the Bulldogs in the third and continued to pour it on with a 26-point fourth quarter. The biggest lead for the Bearcats was the final margin.

Four Douglas players scored in double figures. They were led by Nate Halquist with a game-high 19 points. For the game, the Bearcats finished at 47 percent shooting for the game.

Wheatland got 14 points from Ned Hageman. The Bulldogs shot 35.6 percent from the field, but they committed 17 turnovers.

Douglas has a chance to win a trophy, as they will play Lyman for the consolation title at 5 p.m. on Thursday. The game will be at Casper College.
