The girl's swimming season is headed towards the state championships next month so conference meets were held state-wide over the weekend. With the pandemic, the 4A West meets were divided with Laramie, Natrona, and Kelly Walsh in one, with Rock Springs, Jackson, and Evanston in the other. Conference champions were determined by the combined results of both of those smaller meets.

In the 4A West-Central meet in Casper, Laramie overwhelmed the field with 479 points with Anna Roesler having quite a weekend for the Plainsmen. She won the 200 individual medley and the 100 butterfly. Plus, she swam in the winning 200 freestyle relay and the 400 free relay. In fact, Laramie won all three relays as they hit the wall first in the 200 medley.

Ashlyn Mathes of Laramie won 2 events, the 200 free and the 500 free with teammate Katie McPherson taking the 100 free. Kelly Walsh had 3 swimmers win individual events, Chayse Schierfolk in the 50 free, River Waldock in the 100 backstroke, and Alexis Kerr in the 100 breaststroke. Defending state champion Gabriella Haigler of Natrona placed first in the diving event. All of the 4A West conference champions came from the Casper meet.

We have some video to share with you from the Kelly Walsh pool. Take a look!
