The new WyoPreps.com Coaches and Media Girls Basketball Rankings features a new No. 1 ranked team for the first time in five weeks.

There are two new teams to this week’s poll, plus movement in all four classes.

The change at the top comes in Class 4A. After their victory last week, Cheyenne Central takes over the top spot. The Indians received 17 of the 21 first-place votes. Previous No. 1 Cheyenne East falls to second with defending champ Thunder Basin hot on their heels in third. The Bolts got three first-place tallies. Green River is a solid fourth. Natrona County broke its tie with Rock Springs, so the Fillies are alone in fifth this week. Four other teams received votes in the 4A girls’ poll. The Fillies will have their shot at the top two teams this weekend. No. 5 Natrona visits second-ranked East and top-ranked Central on Friday night and Saturday afternoon, respectively. Two more ranked teams, Thunder Basin and Green River play a pair of games on the road this weekend.

The other top-ranked teams continue to be Douglas, Wyoming Indian, and Cokeville.

In 3A, the Bearcats remain the lone pick for the top spot. Mountain View is still firmly in second. Worland moves up to third after their win last Friday night at Lander. That pushes the Tigers down to fourth, while Lyman maintains the No. 5 spot. Three others received votes in the balloting. In ranked games this weekend, No. 4 Lander goes to fifth-ranked Lyman on Thursday. Then, second-ranked Mountain View visits the Tigers on Saturday.

The Chiefs were one vote shy of being a unanimous choice for the top position. One change has Pine Bluffs and Rocky Mountain tied for second this week. Moorcroft jumps into the poll at No. 4. The Southeast Cyclones drop to fifth, which pushes Wind River out of the top five. With the Grizzlies moving into a tie for second, it creates a 1-2 showdown with top-ranked Wyoming Indian hosting No. 2 Rocky Mountain on Saturday. It’s just like the boys’ match-up.

Following the Panthers, who are again unanimous atop the Class 1A rankings, is H.E.M. The Miners received the most second-place votes, but some other teams are closing in. Upton moves up to third this week, while Saratoga jumps back into the poll for the first time in four weeks. The Panthers are at fourth. Little Snake River falls from third to No. 5. That pushes Kaycee out of the top five, but the Buckaroos are one of five other teams that received votes this week. There is one game involving ranked teams. The fifth-ranked Rattlers visit No. 1 Cokeville on Saturday.

In interclass action, 1A third-ranked Upton visits 2A second-ranked Pine Bluffs on Saturday.
