A softball standout and two boys’ soccer players got the WyoPreps Athlete of the Week honors, presented by Premier Bone and Joint Centers. Following their performances last week, March 17-22, 2025, Cheyenne East senior Rylee Stephenson and Jackson sophomores Jairo Centeno and Vicente Villasana received the weekly award. Stephenson led the Thunderbirds to a perfect start to their softball season. Centeno and Villasana led the Broncs to two conference road wins in dominating fashion.

Girls Winner

Rylee Stephenson helped Cheyenne East to a 4-0 record at last week’s Cheyenne Softball Invitational. The senior went 2-0 in the circle. She pitched 7.2 innings and allowed only four unearned runs on five hits over three appearances. Stephenson struck out 15 batters and walked only one. She tossed a no-hitter in the season-opener against Cody. At the plate, the senior had eight hits, including two home runs and one triple. She finished with seven RBIs, scored five runs, walked twice, and had zero strikeouts. Cheyenne East beat Cody 11-0, Natrona County 6-3, Jackson 15-0, and Kelly Walsh 6-4.

WyoPreps caught up with Stephenson to discuss the start of her senior season. She felt she played well, discussed what worked while pitching, what she concentrated on while hitting, how her role has changed on this year’s East squad, and more.

Boys Winners

Jairo Centeno and Vicente Villasana helped top-ranked Jackson to a 2-0 start in the 2025 Class 4A boys’ soccer season with two conference wins on the road. The Broncs won 10-0 at Natrona County and 4-1 at No. 4 Kelly Walsh. Both sophomores finished with eight points to lead Jackson. Centeno scored four goals, two in each match. Villasana had three goals and two assists. He scored twice with one assist against NC and followed it up with one goal and one assist versus KW.

WyoPreps visited with Jairo and Vicente about the start of their season. They spoke about the team’s success, how they played, what will be key for a younger Jackson team this season, and more.
