Big Piney Track Star Colby Jenks Maintains Excellence

Colby Jenks of Big Piney had a State Track Meet to remember in 2022 winning 3 events and finishing 2nd in a 4th. Jenks has been a master at the 800 meters and set the 2A record in that event at State a year ago. This season, he has the state's best time in that event in 1.52.18 which he set at the highly respected Arcadia Meet in California. The field in that event at Arcadia was 52 from around the country so that was an impressive performance.

He's is also the defending 2A state champion in the 1600 and the 300 hurdles. Last week he won the 300 hurdles at the Pinedale meet and took 1st at the Riverton meet in the 400. That was the event he finished 2nd at State in 2022. Jenks showed his versatility in Riverton by running the 3200 in 9.50.04, placing 2nd.

He's a Weber State commit and has a serious chance of being a 40-point competitor at the 2023 State Track Meet. We talked to him in Riverton about that 400 and the road ahead.
