PhotoFest: Burlington Returns to 1A 6-Man Championship Game
1A 6-Man football games are wide open, to say the least with scoring all over the place. Burlington and Encampment played an entertaining game in the semi-final round of the playoffs over the weekend with Burlington prevailing in 3 overtimes 74-68. The Huskies are the defending 6-Man state champions and had their hands full with the Tigers in this post-season game.
Burlington got 4 rushing touchdowns from Jordan Broederlow, who threw 2 more TD passes. Joe Bassett had 2 touchdowns on the ground and caught a scoring pass, and he's a tough customer. Encampment got this far thanks to the play of Gunner Henrie, who entered the Burlington game with 22 touchdown passes and 16 rushing touchdowns. You won't see many players with stats like that.
Burlington at 8-1 will get a rematch with Little Snake River in the 1A 6-Man championship game on Saturday morning at War Memorial Stadium. It's been an incredible run for the Huskies who are 28-4 over the course of the last 3 seasons. Encampment has made the 6-man semi-finals in 4 of the last 5 years and wrapped up the season with a record of 7-2.
