WyoPreps Third Football Rankings of the 2026 Season

The third WyoPreps Coaches and Media Football Poll brought a bit of a surprise with a new No. 1 in Class 1A 9-man football. That switched up the order of the top three squads. Two new teams entered the rankings, while a third returned to the top five. All five divisions had at least one change, and Star Valley was the only unanimous choice as a top-ranked team.

Rocky Mountain took over the top spot in 9-man football. The Grizzlies are 1-0 after an impressive 57-12 victory over Southeast in Yoder. Pine Bluffs struggled, albeit against 2A power Big Horn, and that loss dropped the Hornets to second. Only three points separated the two teams in the voting. It also pushed Greybull down to third. Both the Hornets and Buffs earned more first-place votes than the Grizzlies, but more second-place tallies moved Rocky Mountain to first. Big Piney and Saratoga remained fourth and fifth.

The one change in the six-man rankings was that Casper Christian debuted in the poll at No. 4. The Mountaineers are off to a 2-0 start after their late comeback victory over Riverside last Saturday. Hulett slid one spot down to fifth.

In 2A, Thermopolis and Torrington traded spots, which put the Bobcats in third. The other change was that Lovell and Cokeville were tied for fifth. The Bulldogs survived a scare against Burns, while the Panthers rejoined the top five despite a loss in Idaho.

The top four were the same in 3A. The Braves earned all 21 first-place votes. Evanston debuted in the top five at No. 5. The Red Devils are 2-0 after a 37-6 home win over last week’s fifth-ranked team, Douglas.

Finally, Natrona County’s win at Cheyenne East vaulted the Mustangs to No. 2 in Class 4A. The Thunderbirds fell to fourth.
