Caleb Ortberg of Kelly Walsh Shining in the Indoor Hurdles

Kelly Walsh track athlete Caleb Ortberg has been solid in the 55-meter hurdle event on the indoor circuit this season and won the Casper Meet on Saturday with a clocking of 7.85. He had a really good meet overall as his 4x200 and 4x400 meter relays took first as well. Ortberg has won the 55-meter hurdles in Casper, Laramie and the 2nd Gillette meet with a 3rd place finish in the first Gillette Meet. His time of 7.81 in that 2nd event in Campbell County is the best in the state so far this season.

Ortberg placed 3rd in the 55 hurdles at the 2023 Indoor Championships and was 6th in the 300 hurdles in the 2023 Outdoor Championships. That was a race where 7 tenths of a second separated the top 6. The young man has some size as he was a 4A all-conference offensive lineman for the Trojan football team. We talked with Ortberg about competing in the hurdles and the road ahead.
