The indoor track season has been moving right along with one more weekend of action until the state championship meets. The top 8 in the running events and the top nine in the field events will qualify for state so that's what the athletes are shooting for.

Casper played host to their 3rd regular season meet of the season and for the girls, Rawlins super-runner Sydney Thorvaldson won the 800 and 1600 meter races. She is one of the premier prep distance runners in the nation and is a University of Arkansas signee. UW signee Taylor Gardner of Laramie also won 2 events, the long jump and the triple jump, plus Ani Brown of Kelly Walsh took first in the 200 and 400 meter runs. Laramie won the team title with 191 points, Kelly Walsh was 2nd with 164, Mountain View 3rd with 83, Rawlins placed 4th with 51, and Douglas 5th with 30 points.

On the boy's side, Darius Wiggins of Kelly Walsh continued his dominant season with victories in the 55-meter dash and the 400. His teammate, Kyson Miller captured the 800 and the 1600 and in the pole vault, Aiden Morris of Laramie really put on a show. He cleared the bar in 3 consecutive attempts at considerable heights and won the competition at 14 feet 6 and a half inches.

In the boy's team standings, Laramie took first with 189 points, followed by Kelly Walsh with 162, Mountain View with 65, Rawlins earned 42 points, Douglas had 40 and Western Heritage had 8.

The state indoor track meet for the boys will be on February 27th in Gillette while the girl's state meet will be on March 6th, also in Gillette. We have some of the video from Saturday's meet at Natrona County High School. Enjoy!
