Douglas Dominates Buffalo, Leads 3A East
Douglas won the head to head battle between the two top teams in the 3A East in convincing fashion with a 41-7 win over Buffalo on Friday night, Douglas got off to a great start in the game with a 3 yard run for a touchdown from Kelton Ewing which was followed by a 4 run to the end zone from Jackson Hughes and then Ewing hit paydirt again from 10 yards out. So just like that, the Bearcats had a 21-0 lead after the first quarter of play.
Douglas tacked on another touchdown in the 2nd quarter with Hughes throwing a 2 yard TD pass to Carter Archuleta to bump the lead to 28. In the 3rd quarter, Hughes threw another scoring strike to Koby Case and threw his 3rd TD pass of the night to Devin Kowlak. The Douglas defense was outstanding holding Buffalo scoreless for 3 quarters. The Bison finally got on the board in the 4th as Charlie Wonka reeled off a 28 run for a touchdown.
Going into the final week of the season, Douglas is 6-1 overall and 4-0 in conference play. They'll be in Worland on Friday and a win would give them a #1 seed in the 3A playoffs. It's also possible to get a number one seed with a loss with various scenarios.
Buffalo 5-2 overall and 3-1 in league play with the Bison wrapping up the regular season at home vs. Lander. They can grab the #1 seed with a win and some help, or get the #2,#3, or #4 seed.
