Douglas has been a very consistent volleyball program over the past few years with a 3A state championship back in 2017. This season, the Cats were challenged right from the git-go at the state tournament, starting with a thrilling 5 set win over Lander in the quarterfinal round. Douglas was swept in the semi-final round by Worland but stayed alive with a 5 set win over Mountain View in the consolation. The Bearcat season came to an end with a 3-0 loss to Pinedale in the 3rd/4th place match to finish the campaign 24-15. Allyson Fertig was named all-state for the 2nd consecutive year. The junior is an early commit to the University of Wyoming basketball program. Joslin Igo was also an all-state selection with Andi Hunsicker named all-conference. Looking ahead to next year. the team loses Hunsicker to graduation but Fertig, Igo, and the talented Kam Townsend return. Douglas will certainly be a state championship contender in 2020.
