Friday night in Park County featured a very tightly contested game between the Powell panthers and the Douglas Bearcats. Coming into the game Powell 3-0 and Douglas was 1 up and 1 down.  In the first quarter, Douglas found the end zone with quarterback A.J. Yeaman floating one to Cooper Gamble for a touchdown, that play covered a dozen yards to put the Bearcats up 7-0.

It stayed that way until the 2nd quarter when Powell evened things up as quarterback Landon Lengfelder found Jesse Trotter for 44 yards and a TD so it was 7 all at halftime.

The 2nd half was a defensive struggle with both teams struggling to find some traction moving the ball. Douglas did breakthrough with a 6 yard TD run from A.J. Yeaman, the extra point was missed so it was 13-7.

The Bearcats hung on from there in a tooth and nail game. to win it 13-7. So Douglas gets to 2-1 and they’ll be on the road again this week in Rawlins. Powell suffered their first loss of the season and they will be at home on Friday vs. Evanston.
