
Buffalo’s Zayne Huber is Joining Black Hills State’s Football Program
Buffalo senior Zayne Huber has inked his National Letter of Intent to play football at Black Hills State University. Huber was an all-state and two-time all-conference pick for the Bison. He played wide receiver and cornerback at BHS and returned kicks. Huber was a four-year letter-winner and two-year starter. He was a team captain for Buffalo last fall.
In his senior year, Zayne was chosen as one of three players in the 3A East Conference for Special Teams Player of the Year. He averaged 29 yards per kick-off return on 11 attempts and took one back 90 yards for a TD. Huber caught 21 passes for 371 yards and four touchdowns. He also threw a touchdown pass last fall. On defense, Zayne made 24 tackles with 19 solo stops. He intercepted two passes and recovered two fumbles. Huber had three pass breakups and scored two defensive TDs. His efforts helped Buffalo to a 3-5 overall record and a 1-4 mark in the 3A East Conference.
As a junior, Huber led the state with six interceptions in 2023. He made 41 tackles with two tackles for loss. Zayne had two pass breakups and scored one defensive TD. On offense, Huber snared 29 passes for 477 yards and four touchdowns.
He averaged 17.8 yards per catch and finished with eight interceptions in his prep career. Huber was selected to the North Team for the 2025 Wyoming Shrine Bowl, which will be in Casper on June 14.
In addition to football, Huber played basketball at BHS. He was an all-conference performer for the Bison during his senior season. Zayne led Buffalo to a 17-10 record, third place in the regular season of the 3A East and at the 3A East Regional Tournament, and the consolation trophy at the 3A basketball state tournament. Huber averaged 12.3 points and 1.8 steals per game. He shot 41 percent from the field, 34 percent beyond the arc, and 70 percent at the free-throw line.

Black Hills State University is in Spearfish, SD. The Yellow Jackets compete at the NCAA Division II level and are members of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC).
