Former Jackson Runner Anna Gibson Qualifies for NCAA Indoor Meet
Former Jackson High School distance Anna Gibson will be competing in the NCAA Indoor Championships later this week in Birmingham, Alabama. Gibson runs for the University of Washington and will be in the 1-mile run and the distance medley relay. Gibson is making her first appearance at the NCAA Indoor Nationals and improved her personal record in the event by 12 seconds. Her time of 4;34.24 is ranked 4th in the field at the Indoor Championships.
Gibson's distance medley relay team will come into the meet in Birmingham with a qualifying time of 10.57.69 which is the 9th best time in the field. Those Indoor championships will be Friday and Saturday. Coming out of high school, Gibson originally signed with Brown University and transferred to Washington in the spring of 2019.
She is one of the most decorated athletes in Wyoming high school sports history with 17 state championships in 3 different sports; track, cross country, and nordic skiing. Gibson was a 2 time Gatorade Cross Country Runner of the Year in 2013 and 2016 and the Gatorade Track Athlete of the Year in 2016.
She had a sensational senior year at Jackson with state championships in cross country and the 800, 1600, and 3200 meter runs in track. Gibson set a state record that year in cross country and the 1600 meter run. In 2017, she was named the Milward Simpson Award Winner given to the state's outstanding prep athlete.
