Green River picked up their first win in football since September 1st, 2023 as they got by Rawlins on Friday 28-15. The Wolves are trying to make some progress after a 1-8 campaign in 2023 and got off the right hoof in this game with 1st quarter touchdown from James Herwaldt as he barreled 28 yards to the end zone. It was 7-0 GR and that's the way it stayed until the 3rd quarter.

Herwaldt was making plays on the defensive side of the ball too with a fumble recovery which turned into a scoop and score to put the Wolves in front 14-0. Rawlins got in the board with a 2-yard run from Vaughn Grant so the Outlaws were right back into the game trailing 14-7

It was an eventful 4th quarter, especially for Green River's Hunter Lake who caught a 7-yard touchdown pass from Maddux Hintz to bump the lead to 21-7. Hintz by the way threw just 4 incomplete passes in 23 attempts. Lake also made a gigantic play on defense with an 80-yard interception return for a touchdown to make it 28-7. Rawlins came through with one more TD as Manny Vialpando got into the end zone from 14 yards out.

Green River is now 1-2 on the season after losses to Mountain View and Lander. The Wolves will travel to Riverton this week. Rawlins is also 1-2 with a win over Burns and a loss to Pinedale in their first 2 games. The Outlaws will play Middle Park H.S. in Granby, Colorado this week.
