A couple of golfers from Lander won individual titles at the big Cody/ Powell Invitational last week in Park County.

On the girl's side of the ledger, Rachel Stoinski of Lander shot 80 and 79 to edge out Sophie Spiva of Natrona by 2 strokes. Kelly Walsh's Megan Griffin was 3rd, 4 strokes off the pace while Thunder Basin's Karissa Tranas was 4th.

Stoinski was the 2nd place finisher at the 3A State Tournament, Spiva took 8th in the 4A tourney with Griffin placing 6th.

Thunder Basin won the team title in Cody and Powell with Kelly Walsh 2nd and Natrona 3rd.

Jaren Calkins of Lander was the champion on the boy's side of this tournament. He shot 71 and 70 to beat Taj Sutherland of Kelly Walsh and Hardy Johnson of Thermopolis by four strokes. Worland's Karsten Simmons took 4th and he was six strokes off the pace.

Calkins was the 2nd place finisher at the 3A State Tournament last year. Sutherland placed seventh at the 4A State get together while Johnson was the 2A State Champion and Simmons was the 3A State Champion.

Kelly Walsh who is the 2-time Class 4A State Champion took the team title in this Park County tourney with Natrona 2nd and Worland 3rd.
