Three standouts from track and field and an outstanding softball player were chosen as the WyoPreps Athletes of the Week. Thunder Basin senior Ashley Rogge and Wheatland junior Landri Vaughn shared the girls’ honor. Thermopolis teammates Cole Keller and Stetson Moody were the boys’ winners. WyoPreps looked back on performances from the competition week of May 11 through May 16, 2026, and chose these four student-athletes. Previous weeks are not part of the decision.

Rogge was one of three individuals to win four events during the regional track weekend last week. At the 4A East Regional Championships in Cheyenne, the senior went 4-for-4 in the hurdles and two jumps. Rogge won the 100 hurdles at 14.60. That was after a 14.39-second effort in the prelims, which is the second-fastest time in the state. Ashley was the only hurdler in the state to run sub-44 seconds in the 300 hurdles. She crossed the finish line at 43.98 seconds for the win. In the high jump, Rogge cleared 5-3 and took first in the competition thanks to fewer misses on her attempts. Finally, the senior took first in the long jump at 18-05.25. That’s the second-best leap in the state this season. Rogge’s performance helped Thunder Basin take first in the girls’ team standings and bring home the top trophy.

WyoPreps visited with Ashley about her big weekend. She discussed her 4-for-4 weekend, how she doesn’t mind competing in multiple events, overcoming some adversity to win the high jump, what her focus is with each discipline, the support she’s received from her teammates and coaches, and more.

Vaughn was instrumental in helping Wheatland qualify for the softball state championship tournament for the first time in school history. The Bulldogs finished the South Regional tournament at 2-2 and placed fourth, but that was good enough for Wheatland to accomplish something they haven’t over the first five years of the program. Landri’s batting average last week was .846. She had 11 hits, which included one double and four home runs, and no strikeouts. Vaughn finished with 16 RBIs, 7 runs scored, and 2 stolen bases. The junior was key in their state tournament qualifying win over Laramie. She went 4-5 with 7 RBIs. Vaughn had a double, one home run, and two RBI singles. It helped Wheatland to a 12-7 victory and a berth in the state championships. In the third-place game, Landri smacked two home runs and drove in three, before she got intentionally walked twice in her final two plate appearances of that game. In the circle, Vaughn threw in all four games. She pitched 14 innings and had a 1-2 record. Landri struck out 21 of the 67 batters she faced.

WyoPreps caught up with Landri on Wednesday. She reflected on being part of some school history with their first appearance at the state tournament. Landri discussed how well she hit the ball, her home runs, getting intentionally walked, her efforts in the circle, and looking ahead to the state tournament this weekend.
