Kemmerer distance runner Owen Burnett certainly had a strong weekend picking up wins in Casper and Riverton on consecutive days. On Friday at the Wyoming Track Classic, he won the 3200 meters in 9.26.54 and turned around and won the 3200 at the Roy Peck Meet in Riverton in 9.21.05. That was the best time in the state in that event so far this season which shows the perseverance this guy has. Burnett also ran on Kemmerer's winning 4x400 relay and the 1600 medley.

A year ago at the 3A State Track meet, Burnett won the 1600 and the 3200 and was the only runner in the field to break the 10-minute mark in that 2-mile race. He's also the 3A State Champion in cross country and competes in that event for Mountain View. He was named the Gatorade Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year and has committed to the University of Wyoming.

We had a chance to chat with Burnett after his phenomenal effort in Riverton in the 3200 and he'll take that time, anytime.
