Upton Sundance held their season opener in Sundance meeting the Lusk Tigers over the weekend. This was a battle between 2 teams that have some very high hopes this season in 1A 11 man.  Upton-Sundance struck first in the opening quarter as Kye Taylor bounced in from the 5-yard line so that have the Patriots a 6-0 lead. The 2nd quarter was huge for Upton-Sundance starting with Taylor throwing a TD pass to Brad Kruger on a play that covered 7 yards. Those 2 guys hooked up for another Td connection later on in the 2nd quarter and then Kruger scored his 3rd TD of the quarter on a 10 yard run so at halftime it was 24-0 Patriots
U-S picked up where they left off in the 3rd quarter as Taylor got into the end zone from 5 yards out and it was 31-0. Lusk finally got on the board in the 3rd quarter as James Stone had an 8 yard run for a score. the 2 point try was good and it was 31-8. Stone also caught a touchdown pass from Wyatt Stauffer in the 4th quarter but Upton Sundance beats Lusk 31-14 to open the season. Wheatland will visit Sundance this week while lusk will host Tongue River.
