One of the teams on the rise in 3A boys’ basketball is the Mountain View Buffalos.

After a slow start with a 2-3 record, Mountain View has rattled off eight straight wins and are now 10-3. That includes a victory over No. 4 Lander, 55-48, last Saturday at home.

Two of the leaders for the Buffalos are seniors Caden Sweep and Hunter Meeks. WyoPreps caught up with the senior duo in the video above after a win over their rival, Lyman. That was a game where Mountain View trailed early but changed their game-plan in the second quarter, took control, and steadily pulled away for the victory.

Sweep and Meeks talked about that win and the keys to it, plus their season, areas to work on, fun items about road trips, the 3A classification this season, and more.

WyoPreps also talked with head coach Dustin Rees following the victory over the Eagles. He discussed what his team did well in that game, what’s changed since the slow start, where they need to improve, and more.

The Buffalos have five games left in the regular season. Their game this Friday at Kemmerer has been postponed to Feb. 18.

Mountain View is trying to get back to the state tournament for the first time since 2017.

They will have their shot at the regional quad on Thursday, March 4, at Lyman High School.
