Natrona County athlete Alesha Lane is one of the Milward Simpson Award finalists this year and ended her prep career with two wins at the State Track Meet last month in Casper. Lane won the 4A title in the discus throw for the 2nd straight year as she threw 138-4. Her season-best was 140-5 and that was also the best mark in the state this year. A year ago, Lane threw 131-3 to win the discus at the state meet.

In the shot put, she threw a season-best 42- 7.5 at the state meet to take the top of the podium and that mark also was the best in Wyoming this year. A year ago, she took 3rd in the 4A shot, going 40-10.75. Lane also won a state title indoors in the shot put at 41-00.25

Lane was an all-state volleyball player and all-state basketball player in her career and will be attending New Mexico State University. We did catch up with her at the state meet following victory #2 and she was happy about that!
