It was the battle of the 3A football titans on Friday in Park County as #1 Cody played host to #2 and defending state champion Star Valley. These two teams met in the 3A state championship last November and Star Valley brought their "A" game to this 2023 regular season match-up

The Braves jumped to lead over the Broncs in the opening quarter with a pair of touchdown runs from Tristan Hilton. The first one was from 1 yard out and the 2nd one was from 3 yards out. The Broncs cut the Star Valley lead in half thanks to a touchdown from Grady McCarten so Cody trailed after 1, 14-7.

Star Valley had an excellent 2nd quarter as Smith McClure tossed a 14-yard touchdown pass to Lane Wiebelhaus to bump the lead to 21-7, which was followed but Hilton's 3rd rushing TD of the night to increase the Brave lead to 28-7.

Cody came out with some intensity to start the 3rd quarter and got back into the game as quarterback Maddax Ball lobbed one to Chase Hatch for 42 yards and a touchdown so just like that it was a 28-14 game. Star Valley didn't flinch as Jesse Leavitt got into the end zone from a couple of yards out and the lead was back to 21 for the Braves at 35-14. Hilton added a 4th quarter touchdown so he was ultra-productive in the game as Star Valley got to 6-1 beating Cody 41-14. The Braves will be at Green River this week. Cody drops to 6-1 overall and they have a road game on Friday in Evanston.
