When Powell and Cody meet up in football, it's a very intense game with plenty of enthusiasm. Both teams are enjoying productive seasons in 3A and Cody ended up on the winning end of this year's rivalry game 22-19. The Broncs had a super night running the football thanks to Grady McCarten who had 173 yards on the ground. He has been terrific all season. The Cody defense also produced some big plays when they needed them including a pair of interceptions, the last one coming late in the 4th quarter.

Powell moved the ball in this game, accumulating almost 400 yards of offense but was a matter of turning those yards into points.  The Panthers are 7-2 on the year with a 3-point loss to Cody and a 3-point loss to defending 3A champion Star Valley. This is a tough group and they will be in Buffalo as the #3 seed from the West in the quarterfinal round of the playoffs. Powell has made 5 straight appearances in the postseason and won a state title back in 2013.

Cody is 8-1 and they have a 3-point loss to Star Valley as well. The Broncs are the #2 seed from the West and will have a home playoff game on Friday vs. Douglas. Cody has been more than solid in the last few years with just 3 losses since 2020 with a state title in that season and 2021 as well.
