It was the battle of Gillette, round two on Friday night as Campbell County played host to Thunder Basin in the quarterfinal round of the 4A football playoffs. During the regular season, Campbell County took it to Thunder Basin 49-17 but the Bolts turned things around on a cold evening in Gillette.

Thunder Basin jumped in front in the first quarter as Alonso Aguilar got into the end zone from a yard out to make it 7-0. Campbell County came right back as quarterback Mason Drube found Adam Gibson for 23 yards and a score. The point after was missed so the Camels trailed 7-6. Landon Scalise of Thunder Basin returned the ensuing kick-off 87 yards for a touchdown to give the Bolts a 14-6 advantage after one-quarter of play.

Pj Hatzenbuhler added to the Thunder Basin lead with a 41-yard gallop to the end zone giving the Bolts a 20-6 lead. The Camels hung right in there thanks to a blocked punt that was returned for a touchdown by Patrick Lynch to cut the gap to 20-12. Thunder Basin added a field goal to lead 23-12 at the halftime intermission.

After a scoreless 3rd quarter, the Bolts exploded for 17 points in the 4th stanza with another field goal, another Hatsenbuhler touchdown, and another TD run from Aguilar. Thunder Basin wins it 40-12 and sits at 7-3 in the year. They have won 4 in a row and will visit Sheridan for their 4A semi-final game. Campbell County wraps up the season at 6-4.
