Riverton has a talented boys' basketball team this year led by the 2022-23 Wyoming Gatorade Player of the Year Parker Paxton. He averaged 18.5 points per game last season shooting 42% from the floor, 40% from the 3-point line, and a whopping 85% from the free-throw line. Paxton was named 4A all-state and so was his teammate Darrick DeVries who threw in 13 points a game last season. The guy is a pure shooter and the state's best golfer with 4 championships. He recently signed with the University of Colorado for golf.

Riverton was tested right away in their Strannigan Tournament over the weekend with four close games. The Wolverines beat Sheridan 58-56 and Rawlins 68-64 but absorbed a 53-48 loss to Cheyenne Central and a 64-59 defeat to Cheyenne East. Riverton is 42-12 over the course of the last two seasons so they know how to win and this will be a dangerous group moving forward.

We talked with Paxton and Riverton senior Brodie Dale after their season-opening win over Sheridan. That was the way to get things started!
