Cheyenne East and Rock Springs played a tremendous game on Friday at Okie Blanchard Stadium with each team not surrendering very much.  Rock Springs is driven by their ground game and they scored first with a 2-yard TD run from Brandon Toth to give the Tigers a 7-0 lead. East responded with a touchdown of their own on a 1-yard plunge from Christian Anderton but the extra point was missed so it was 7-6 Rock Springs in front.

Later in the 3rd quarter, East jumped in front on a 6 yard run for a touchdown from Jackson Hesford to put the T-Birds in front 14-7 with the successful 2 point try, In the 4th quarter, East kicked a field goal to get to 17-7, but Rock Springs came up with a timely play on offense as quarterback Seth Hymas tossed a 14 yard touchdown pass to Chase Petty to cut the gap to 17-14.

East needed some insurance and got one a nifty touchdown connection from quarterback Graeden Buellto Aumiller that covered 19 yards to make it 23-14. And that’s the way it stayed as East improves to 6-2 on the year with a great chance to get a home playoff game. The Thunderbirds will have a premiere game this week on the road at Sheridan. Rock Springs drops to 4-4 but they’ll qualify for the 4A playoffs. The Tigers wrap up the regular season with a road game at Natrona on Friday.
