There was a new top-ranked team, and six new teams entered the WyoPreps Coaches and Media Soccer Polls released on Wednesday.

Kelly Walsh took over the top spot in 4A boys, while the Cody and Thunder Basin girls and the Worland boys topped the other three divisions.

The Trojans received two fewer first-place votes, but more second and third-place votes vaulted them to the top spot. Jackson was just three points behind in the voting, but the Broncs fell to second. Cheyenne Central traded positions with Sheridan after a head-to-head victory last Saturday. The Indians came in third, followed by the Broncs in fourth. Rock Springs rejoined the poll at No. 5.

The only change in the 4A girls’ rankings was at the bottom of the poll. Thunder Basin remained in the top position with 11 of the 13 first-place votes. Riverton, Jackson, and Natrona County held the second, third, and fourth spots. The change occurred with three teams were tied for fifth. Cheyenne East shared that spot with Laramie and Sheridan.

Two new teams joined the 3A boys’ poll. Worland held the No. 1 ranking again. The Warriors earned ten of the 13 first-place votes. Powell and Cody stayed second and third, respectively. Buffalo entered the poll after they played their first match of the season last weekend. The Bison were fourth. Lander fell one spot, and the Tigers were joined by Green River in a tie for fifth.

In 3A girls, the Cody Fillies were the only unanimous choice for No. 1 in the voting. Cody received all ten first-place votes in the poll. Lander stayed in the second spot. Both Buffalo and Green River climbed up one position to third and fourth. Worland made their debut in the girls’ rankings at No. 5.
